A NOTE FROM PASTOR ROYDON
Evangelism When we hear this word “evangelism” we sometimes want to run and hide, or we come up with a million excuses why we can’t or won’t evangelise. Sometimes many emotions are stirred up within our heart possibly because just like Moses we feel inadequate, not qualified enough, or possibly don’t want any part of it. We feel that it is best if someone else does it but it’s not for me. We need to remind ourselves that the Lord Jesus has commanded and equipped each of us to share our faith. What is evangelism? Evangelism, put simply, is sharing the Gospel message, the good news of Jesus Christ. This happens any time we tell someone who Jesus is and what he has done for us. Studying the instructions Jesus gives to his disciples before he ascends helps us understand what he is asking us to do when he tells us to share the gospel and make disciples and why this is for each and every one of us, not just pastors, missionaries, or professionals. It also reminds us that God does not expect us to do this on our own, by our own power. Just like He told Moses, He is telling us also, that He will be with us. This doesn’t mean it’s always easy. God understands our doubts about our abilities. Moses was afraid that if he really did what God wanted him to do, it wouldn’t work out right, something would go wrong. Moses wanted perfect assurance of the end result before he took the first steps. And just like Moses we think and do the same thing that Moses did. We also come up with these excuses. We must ask ourselves: When God calls us, will we obey? When we read it in the Word of God, will we obey? When we hear it from the pulpit, after making sure it doesn’t go against the Word of God, will we obey? When a friend gives us a piece of advice that we recognise is of the Lord, will we obey? What are you willing to do for Jesus? Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Will we put the kingdom of God first above all? Will the things that matter to God matter most to us? Will the things that break God’s heart break our hearts? Will we be obedient to the call of God or will we stall for time, making excuses will the world is heading to a Christless eternity? We have the cure for sin, the Lord Jesus Christ but are we sharing this gift with a lost world heading to hell? Some thoughts for us to consider this week as we seek to serve the Lord here in Mount Isa. |

PRAYER MEETINGEach Sunday at 8:45 am before the 9:00 am service The idea is that if you just want to pop in, say a quick prayer, and leave, that’s okay, but if we as a church want to see the Lord moving in our church, if we want growth in our spiritual lives and growth in the church, that is where it needs to start. 2Chronicles 7:14: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land" |
